I have finally got round to doing a new post! Either I have been drawing, birding, booking flights, urrr etc etc. I guess this will have to be a kinda of quick review of what I have been doing, cause I have stuff to do! So lets start.
New Years Day
On New Years Day one has to see as many bird species as one possibly can. I got 34 species, including Black-fronted Tern and Long-Tailed Cuckoo.
Talking about New Year here is the status of my resolutions

- Submit more checklists to EBird sorta a bit...
- Keep a Bird journal so far FAIL
- Draw more success of far!
- Get too excited about birding in AU DONE
Tui
Tui everywhere. At the feeder, near the flax, on the nest...
Wood Duck fail
Oh they may have been there... I certainly did not see them though.
Coot!
Lots of them! Sadly I did not see the dabchicks that were supposed to be there on the Talor Dam.
Some of the coot (Eurasian Coot) had chicks.

GLOSSY IBIS
Maybe the highlight other than the tern banding, I saw three of the Blenhiem sewage pond glossies! I think that brings my Life list to 106 and my year list to 54.
Oh and here are some shots from Picton on the same day...
