Or Wood Ducks! After trying a few times I saw them again. This time with two adolescents it appeared.
Thing is, there was an extra male and female. It is hard to tell their age, but there was never another female around so it is quite safe to say that is the pairs offspring!
But there is an extra male around. So could the other duck I saw be him? I don't think so, the pair seemed to comfortable around him. Still, it could be him.
They are awesome birds! Also, when I heard the female call it was not quite like what I expected, take listen: xeno-canto.org/species/Chenonetta-jubata

Australian Wood Duck, or Maned Goose are normally a rare vagrant to New Zealand, but this pair in Tasman, have now bred several times. This does not make them native as such, any bird that comes over by its self is "Native".
As you possibly know ducks are my favourite bird family. Seeing these was awesome! (Thing is I'll most likely see them in Australia!)
Cya Next time.
