I just did not think I'd see them here on the Wairau River! There were heaps of them, maybe even 100 (They were to hard to count). It was pretty cool to see them all flying around.
I figured this is a breeding colony. My dad and his friend found a egg here while fishing! I've not heard of them breeding inland like this before.
There were also some SIPO (South Island Pied Oystercatchers) around, but I expected them, as well as a flock of Canada Geese.
